Early post-surgical lymphatic drainage is primarily organized around swelling, fluid movement, tenderness, and the pathways affected by surgery. Fibrosis-focused sessions become more relevant when healing tissue feels unusually dense, lumpy, tethered, ropey, or slow to soften.
The session may still include Manual Lymph Drainage when swelling remains, but the appointment is planned around the location, age, texture, and mobility of the firm tissue rather than routine full-body MLD.
Post-Surgical Fibrosis + C-Section Scars
Post-surgical fibrosis treatment for firm or restricted tissue
Fibrosis can develop in healing tissue after liposuction, a C-section, or another surgery. It may feel firm, lumpy, ropey, stuck, tethered, or uneven. Post-surgical MLD is often included in recovery planning to support fluid movement while tissue heals, although fibrosis risk still varies with the procedure and each person's healing response. C-section scar massage is one part of this service for clients whose cesarean scar or surrounding abdominal tissue feels restricted.
For a C-section, the session can work with restriction above, below, and around the cesarean scar instead of focusing only on the visible line.

How are fascia, scar tissue, and fibrosis connected?
Fascia is a body-wide connective-tissue network whose layers are designed to glide relative to one another. During healing, scar tissue and fibrosis can make the local layers feel less mobile, tighter, or more tethered. A recent systematic review of surgical and post-traumatic scars describes adhesive scars involving fascial layers and their association with pain and limited movement.
Can a restricted scar affect more than the scar itself?
